A huge, heartfelt congratulations to the U.S. women’s national soccer team! Yesterday, they brought home yet another World Cup title and made history as back-to-back champions.

This team makes our country so proud—but they’re still fighting just to be paid what they deserve. The women’s team makes a fraction of what the men’s team does despite their overwhelming success.

Equal pay is a pervasive problem throughout our society. That’s why, in every single Congress I’ve been a part of, I’ve put forward legislation to close the wage gap. And I promise you, as president, I will make equal pay a top priority.

It’s long past time to guarantee equal pay for equal work. Agree? Stand with me and the champion women’s national team and add your name to call for equal pay for women. In 2019, we have absolutely no excuse to pay women less than men for doing the same job.

We tell little girls, “You can be anything you set your mind to.” But the reality is that women on average still only make 80 cents for every $1 a white man makes. And for women of color, the numbers are much worse.

It’s a moral outrage—and a drain on the economy—that hurts every American.

It’s time to show we value women through our actions, not just our words.
