The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.
I believe justice for Dreamers is exactly in the spirit of the holiday season.
Congress should not wait until January to pass the Dream Act. Thankfully, both California Senators Feinstein and Harris are fighting for the Dream Act, but we need more champions in Congress to stand up. The lives of too many young, driven, and hardworking Dreamers hang in the balance.
Nationwide, there are approximately 700,000 young people who are facing the loss of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) protections. Of those, about 200,000 DACA recipients are in California. In California, Dreamers have been able to work, support their families, and contribute fully to our communities and our state without fear of deportation.
As a son of immigrants, I know firsthand the selfless sacrifice immigrants make in order to live better lives and provide for others. Dreamers deserve a shot at the American Dream.
I am going to fight to pass the Dream Act now because I believe that Dreamers deserve a future here in the USA, the country they call home.
