The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Like so many, I am appalled and dismayed by the President’s decision for the United States to abandon the Paris Agreement. I am pleased that California has already stepped forward along with New York and Washington State to annouce the formation of a United States Climate Alliance. I know that regardless of what happens in DC, California will continue to lead the fight against climate change not just nationally, but globally, in the years to come. As governor I commit to expanding our efforts and banning fracking.

And, if the people in other states have a say, we will soon be joined not just by states governed by Democratic Governors, but by every single state in the nation. This decision was not the will of the majority, or even the empowered minority. It was the decision of one man. In fact, a majority of people in every state in the nation want the United States to be part of the Paris Agreement.

Too often it feels like there are red states and blue states and never the twain shall meet. But on this one issue, there is actual consensus.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate that our country stands united in its desire to be part of the global community to combat climate change. The decision of one small-minded man can be easily changed in the not too distant future if we work together.

In the meantime, I hope you will support my campaign to lead California in the fight to protect our air, our water, our planet and yes, to finally ban fracking in our state.

Thank you,
