A pregnant 11-year-old can’t get an abortion. A sexual assault survivor must carry her attacker’s child. A mother of three, forced to be a mother of four.
These scenes are Alabama. They are Missouri, Georgia, Arkansas, Ohio, Mississippi, Kentucky, and others who are illegally blocking the constitutional right to an abortion.
It’s sickening. And the irony couldn’t be more extreme: Today marks the end of National Women’s Health Week.
But there wasn’t much to celebrate this week. Instead, we must speak out. We must fight back. And we must defend the progress we’ve made.
Reproductive freedom is under attack add your name to the list of people joining together to fight back.
In California, we’re doing just that.
We’ve secured victories in our fights to protect access to affordable birth control. We’ve blocked the Title X gag rule for the time being. We’ve ensured access to healthcare for millions of women.
California will continue to stand for progress while others try to roll the country back.
Can you help? Add your name to our list of people who support expanding –– not gutting –– women’s healthcare.
No matter what happens in statehouses, I promise you California will continue to empower women, expand access to healthcare, and defend the constitutional right to an abortion.
When survivors, mothers, and women everywhere are empowered, we all are.
