Last weekend at the San Diego County Democratic Party Convention, I shared for the first time publicly that I am endorsing John Chiang in the 2018 governor’s race.
John has always put people first during his time in public service.
His record of preserving California’s coastline, protecting funding for services that our most vulnerable families rely on, and working to advance progressive policies that help every Californian speaks for itself.
But John also took one of the most courageous stands I’ve ever seen in politics when he refused Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s order to cut the pay for state workers down to the minimum wage.
Only one person could stop Arnold, and John stepped up for the hundreds of thousands of workers that serve our state.
John Chiang has the courage we need to stand up to Donald Trump.
And that’s the kind of leader I want to stand with in 2018 to keep the California Dream alive in these difficult times.
