Dear Friends,
Today we pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers! This weekend symbolizes the hard work of our brave men and women who have and continue to stand up against unsafe working conditions that for long have targeted our poor and immigrant communities. Through long protests, strikes, and negotiations, we have seen changes in legislation across our country.
On June 28, 1894, Congress passed an act making Labor Day a legal holiday. Now, 125 years later and as we enjoy our picnics, barbecues, and parades let’s take this time to reflect on how far we have come as a country and recognize that there is still more progress to be made.
Thank you to all the local and national Labor Union Leaders for continuing to fight for our communities!
Sincerely,
Esmeralda Soria |
