California Democratic Party Chair Eric C. Bauman Announces Standing Committee Appointments
Sacramento—California Democratic Party Chair Eric C. Bauman today announced appointments to the Standing Committees of the California Democratic Party. In a departure from previous years, the process of selecting committee membership was opened up by Chair Bauman to include the statewide officers of the CDP.
“This has been the most inclusive process in decades, and we have selected the most diverse set of of appointments in CDP history,” said Eric C. Bauman, Chair of the California Democratic Party. “I am particularly proud that we appointed a majority of women and people of color because everyone should have a seat at the table in the California Democratic Party.”
Of the appointments made, more than half were people of color, and more than half were women. 13 percent of the appointees identify as disabled, and 16 percent identify as LGBTQ. Additionally, nearly half of the appointees are brand new appointees who have never served on a CDP committee before.
“These committees are one of the most important ways an activist can help build up and strengthen our party and fight for our values. I believe we will see tremendous work come out of each of these committees, particularly with so many new and enthusiastic grassroots Democrats participating for the first time,” added Chair Bauman.
