Congressman Jim Costa Launches
Re-election Campaign

Today, Congressman Jim Costa (D-Fresno) announced he is running for re-election to the United States Congress and issued the following statement:

“I’ve spent my career working to ensure everyone has the chance to be a part of a strong middle-class and has what they need to raise their families in safe, healthy communities.  Navigating the global pandemic and expanding access to quality healthcare, especially in our rural and underserved communities, delivering cleaner air and protecting critically needed access to water for our families and farmers requires steady, battle-tested leadership.

“That’s why I am proud to announce that I will be running for re-election to Congress, to continue being that leader.  In Congress, I will continue my commitment to ensuring our families, children and small business owners can thrive in a post-quarantine world and come back even stronger.  I am looking forward to the road ahead and continuing to serve our Valley and all Californians.  I look forward to campaigning vigorously and earning the vote of those who call our Valley home.”

Jim Costa was first elected to Congress in 2004 and was most recently re-elected in 2020, soundly defeating a Democratic challenger in the primary and a Republican opponent in the general election.  He is a farmer and has been one of the Valley’s leading advocates for good paying jobs, reliable access to water, cleaner air, and quality health care.

Congressman Costa is running for California’s 21st Congressional District, which includes the cities of Fresno, Dinuba, Exeter, Parlier, Reedley, Sanger, Selma and other communities in Fresno and Tulare Counties.  Congressman Costa has previously represented many of these communities over the course of his career in public service.

The 2022 primary will be held on June 7, 2022.

American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 – Request for Project Ideas

Good Afternoon,

You are receiving this email because you or your designee subscribed to receive notices for upcoming Fresno County events or updates.

On December 10, 2021, the County of Fresno issued a Press Release to invite representatives of local organizations, such as DBAs, LLCs, incorporations, 501(c)3 organizations, or special districts, to submit a “Statement of Interest” for potentially available American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding and attend one of the upcoming Zoom webinars scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, and Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

The webinar will provide attendees an opportunity to learn about the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) and potential ARPA funding for allowable use categories.  Participants will also be introduced to the “Statement of Interest” and learn how to submit a “Statement of Interest” to the County of Fresno for potentially available ARPA funds. Click here for additional event information.

Please note, this email and the submittal of a “Statement of Interest”, are not an offer by the County for ARPA funds and do not commit the County to grant any amount of ARPA funding to any type of recipient, or for any type of project activity.

For additional information, please visit Fresno County’s dedicated ARPA webpage at: http://www.fresnocountyca.gov/ARPA

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the families and community leaders who joined us to celebrate the reopening of the Maxie L. Parks Community Center! ???? It was a successful event and it was all thanks to the PARCS Department, West Fresno Family Resource Center, and their dedicated staff! We are beyond excited to have our residents use the center once again. Please check out the December calendar below for the all activities and gym hours they have available.

The parade will go down Fulton Street, beginning at Tulare St. and Ventura St. After the parade concludes, a tree lighting ceremony will take place at Mariposa Plaza.

Please join us at this delightful event for an afternoon full of fun, food, and craft vendors!

SOUTHWEST FRESNO
TRAIL PROJECT

Exciting update for the Southwest Fresno Trail Project! During the 12/9/21 Council Meeting, the City Council approved an agreement for engineering services with Sherwood Design Engineers, Inc. The TCC funded project includes a Class I trail, trees, trail lighting, and street lighting.

There will be opportunities for the community to provide input for the trail design. Stay tuned!

HINTON PARK

Hinton Park will soon see more lighting on the playfields!????⚽️????

Currently, Hinton Park has field lights at the baseball field, but the area between the baseball field and the parking lot is unlit and too dark for sporting activities. During the 12/9/21 Council Meeting, the City Council approved a construction contract with C2 Electrical for the installation of additional LED light fixtures.

We have a projected completion date of early Summer 2022. Our office will keep you updated.

NEW WEST FRESNO
HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

The new home development project will feature almost 600 single-family homes and a community park on the east and west sides of S. Valentine Ave. north of W. Madison Ave.

This will create opportunities for first-time homebuyers and working families to own homes and build generational wealth. The City and my office committed to working with the community and the developer to create a new community that supports the need for green space and single-family homes.

OPERATION CLEAN UP

Do you have any large items you wish to dispose of? For the month of December, the City’s Operation Clean Up will be picking up bulky items in Central Fresno neighborhoods. To view a detailed map and a list of Do’s & Don’ts, please visit the Department of Public Utilities page: tinyurl.com/FresnoDPU

Please note that the program is currently one week behind.
