I am honored to serve as California’s next United States Senator. There’s a lot of work to be done and it’s going to take a lot of resources to make progress on the issues that are important. So before I ask for your support, let me explain a little bit about myself.

I’m the proud son of Mexican immigrants. I learned everything I know about work and opportunity from my parents. My father worked his way up from a dishwasher to head cook at a local diner with only an elementary school education, and my mother worked tirelessly as a housekeeper for affluent families.

I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and worked hard as a kid. I found refuge in books and baseball and eventually earned admission to MIT. And with all of this opportunity, I’ve fought every day to make life better for California families.

I got my start as a young activist, organizing my neighbors against crime and environmental racism. I was elected the youngest LA City Council President where I delivered after school programs to communities that had none. As a State Senator, I passed bills to fight climate change, expand educational opportunity and demand gun safety. And as California’s Secretary of State I stood up to Donald Trump’s attacks on immigrants and voting rights.

Now, as California’s first Latino Senator, I’m ready to keep on fighting for the people of California. Every Californian deserves to share the dream my parents believed in, and the best way we can do that now is by passing a bold, progressive agenda. That includes:

  • Creating an effective vaccine distribution plan
  • Getting our economy and jobs back on track
  • Passing Medicare for All
  • Enacting A Green New Deal
  • Reforming our immigration system

This is just the start of what I hope we can achieve together and I’m ready to get to work. But in order to be successful, I need your help. We have just a few days left until our first fundraising deadline of the new year. And with time running out, I have to ask:

Can I count on you to make a $3 donation to this movement for change? It’s going to take a massive people-powered effort to organize and defend the dream and I’d be honored to have your support.

If you’ve stored your info with ActBlue, we’ll process your contribution instantly:

There’s so much to do, but I know we can do it together, with our families and our communities by our side. That’s how I’ve made progress since I was a kid, and I know that’s how we’ll continue to make progress as a state and as a nation.

Thank you for your support and stay tuned for more about what’s next, we are going to need you with us.

Onward together,

Alex Padilla

The work ahead on immigration reform

It’s time to do the right thing.

 ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Alex Padilla for Senate

Immigration reform is urgent and a matter of life or death for people fleeing violence or persecution.

Immigrants needlessly suffered under Donald Trump. It’s time to right those wrongs. That’s why I stand with President Biden in his work to roll back the dangerous executive actions of the Trump administration and build a better future that guarantees that undocumented essential workers and their families are included in our nation’s economic recovery.

We must find permanent protections for the 11 million undocumented immigrants living, working, and contributing to our country. We must keep essential workers safe and recognize their role in keeping us safe through the pandemic. And Joe Biden’s plan will do just that.

I’m ready to make sweeping immigration reform a reality — are you with me? Add your name to support the fight to build a path to citizenship and success for immigrants today.

We have deemed so many of undocumented workers as essential, and we have an obligation to treat them as essential. They deserve not just COVID and labor protections but the security of a path to citizenship.

PERIOD.

Like so many families, mine came to this country for a better life, more opportunities, and safer communities. They made sacrifices because they believed in securing the American dream for their son — now it’s time to move that torch forward and ensure that every Californian has a shot at achieving their own American dream. It’s time to deliver on that promise by prioritizing immigration reform and protection for undocumented essential workers.

I’m committed to working with President Biden on a permanent solution that fulfills the promise of our country — but I need you by my side to get it done. Add your name to join the fight to pass immigration reform once and for all.

Thanks,

Alex Padilla

History made ✅

History made ✅

While it’s important to celebrate our victories, it’s equally important to remember that the work continues.

California Democratic Party Logo

We made it happen

Madam Vice President Kamala Harris.

Say it out loud. Savor it. When barely one hundred years ago, suffragists were marching to the Capitol to fight for a woman’s right to vote — we just elected Oakland’s pride and joy, our nation’s first Black, South-Asian, woman Vice President.

That’s some history-making stuff.

While it’s important to celebrate our victories, it’s equally important to remember that the work continues. If you are still dedicated to community organizing, service to your country, and activism — we want to hear from you.
I’M ALL IN »Today’s also the anniversary of the Women’s March — the largest single-day protest in American history. We’re proud to celebrate it with a Vice President Harris in the White House!

This is the energy that we need to maintain during the Biden-Harris administration to end the COVID-19 pandemic, build back our economy, fight racial justice, restore our standing in the world, and so much more.

So if you’re still in this fight, we want to hear from you.

Alex Padilla for Senate

Today, we make history — and I’m so honored to be part of it.

Today we’re swearing in not only Joe Biden and Kamala Harris — the first female, Black, and South Asian vice president — but Georgia’s first Black senator in Rev. Raphael Warnock, the youngest senator since Joe Biden in Jon Ossoff, and me, the first Latino senator to serve the state of California.

These past few years, we’ve made so much ugly history — that’s why it’s so overwhelming to be part of a day like today, to bring hope and optimism back to the history books and back to Washington, D.C. I’m beyond honored, and I’m focused — the work starts today.

I’m proud to have you on my team, beside me in spirit, as I’m sworn into the U.S. Senate today. Will you invest in the future, in rebuilding, and in the progress we deserve by chipping in $5 or more right now?

If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

I’m the proud son of immigrants. My parents met as immigrants from Mexico — they fell in love, got married, and applied for green cards, ready to embrace a country that valued hard work and opportunity.

That’s something they instilled in me, from my father working his way up from a dishwasher to head cook at a local diner with only an elementary school education (he liked to boast that his kitchen “never failed an inspection”), to my mother working tirelessly as a housekeeper for affluent families.

That’s something I’ll carry with me every day as California’s next senator — to keep on fighting, to keep on building on that opportunity. I still live less than five miles from the home I grew up in, and I’m still fighting for the same progress I was as an upstart teenager in Pacoima.

There’s so much to do, there’s so much to achieve — but I know we can do it together, with our families and our communities by our side. That’s how I’ve made progress since I was a kid, and I know that’s how we’ll make progress as a state and as a nation.

I’m ready to rebuild this country and reinstill hope back into governing for the people, by the people — are you with me? Invest in the future by making a donation of $5 or more right now.

Thanks,

Alex Padilla

Dignity & Honor Restored

Dignity & Honor Restored

Today was a historic moment for the United States. As President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took their oaths of office, I felt relieved beyond words to know that together we restored honor, decency and competent leadership to the highest offices of the land. Just like President Clinton, I feel like I can sleep again.

The inauguration of California’s own Kamala Harris as our first woman Vice President is cause for great excitement. The daughter of immigrants, and the first Black and South Asian Vice President, her story is the story of our great state and our great country. I find so much joy in knowing that after today, millions of young children will grow up finding it perfectly normal to have a Madame Vice President. As my friend Kamala often says, she may be the first but she certainly won’t be the last.

As the country continues to battle the darkest part of the COVID-19 pandemic, California’s leaders can look forward to working with a federal administration who will tell the truth, help us quickly generate and distribute vaccines, and beseech all Americans to PLEASE wear a mask.

Today President Biden said, “Here is my message to those beyond our borders: America has been tested and we have come out stronger for it”. Let’s go forward toward a stronger, better future for our country and our beautiful state of California.
