I am running for CA State Assembly Aileen Rizo and putting action behind the change I want to see. Looking for 500 people to give at least $13. That’s how much it costs to submit a candidate statement for the voter’s guide. Please consider helping. Thank you! www.aileenrizo.com

Our campaign is back on the road after an amazing convention in San Diego! We are fired up and working hard to reach voters in local communities around the state, and we are going back to as many counties as we can before the June Primary.
On the Road
Last weekend, it was a privilege to speak at IGNITE’s California Young Women’s Political Leadership Summit in San Francisco with over 150 young women, who are getting involved in politics and campaigns. I strongly believe that California’s future is rooted in engaging young people in activism, and I’m excited that many of them will get involved in our campaign.
Yesterday I had the distinct honor to speak with leaders of Planned Parenthood in Sacramento. When I am elected Lt. Governor, I will fight hard for reproductive freedom and to ensure women around the state have access to affordable healthcare.
Tomorrow I’ll be speaking at the Rio Vista Democratic Club and then the Marin Women’s Political Action Committeeon Friday.

HERNANDEZ BACKED BY LA CITY LEADER IN STATEWIDE BID
LA City Controller Ron Galperin is Latest to Endorse Senator Ed Hernandez for Lt. Governor
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA- Continuing to build up his roster of support among some of Los Angeles’ most widely respected leaders in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez was endorsed by LA City Controller Ron Galperin.
In a statement released following the announcement, Galperin declared:
“I am proud to support Sen. Ed Hernandez for Lieutenant Governor. Ed has been an effective, compassionate advocate for his district and I know he will bring that same level of dedication statewide. Like me, Ed shares a commitment to a government that works for all in a state that represents the very best of our nation. As Lieutenant Governor, Ed will fight for our environment, making higher education more accessible and affordable and for our working families.”
Last week, Senator Hernandez was the top vote getter among delegates at the California Democratic Party convention. With 1,157 votes cast in his favor at the California Democratic Party convention, Senator Hernandez received more delegate votes than any candidate running for Governor of California, where the top vote getter earned 1,087 votes, as well as more votes than California’s incumbent U.S. Senator, who received 1,023. Senator Hernandez triumphed at convention despite not surpassing the high 60% vote threshold required to win the endorsement.
Recently, State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez rolled out a new digital video ad, titled “Proven Progressive,” in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor. The ad highlights some of the Senator’s high-powered endorsements, including from the California Nurses Association and the California Teachers Association, along with his 100% legislative voting scorecard from organizations like the California Labor Federation* and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Advocates*.
To view Senator Hernandez’ video ad, “Proven Progressive,” click here.
Significantly, recently California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ groundbreaking drug transparency bill, SB-17, into law. Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times. Renee highlights Senator Hernandez’ efforts to combat skyrocketing drug costs in the ad.
A husband, father, grandfather, practicing optometrist, and local businessman, “Dr. Ed” (as he is known to his patients) has spent his life bringing quality eye care to predominantly low-income communities. As a health care provider, the need to improve access to health care for all Californians is what first drove him to run for office.
Since being elected to the Assembly in 2006 and the Senate in 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez has been a leader on the implementation of federal health care reform – helping expand access to affordable health care, control costs, and improve the network of providers so people can actually get quality care when they need it. Dr. Ed has been a champion by expanding educational opportunity to qualified students overlooked by our public schools and universities, as well as a major proponent for government reform, including fixing a broken initiative system too often hijacked by billionaires and wealthy corporations. Dr. Ed Hernandez is running to take this experience, leadership, and vision to the next level by serving the people of California as their Lieutenant Governor.

After much deliberation, and with the encouragement of family, friends, and supporters here in the Central Valley, I’m proud to announce that I’m taking my campaign for Congress to California’s 21st Congressional District.
Believe me, this wasn’t an easy decision. But to my supporters and the new friends I’ve made throughout this campaign, I want you to know that I’ve always been committed to giving this community the representation we need.
The Central Valley is my home. I know every inch of its landscape — the towns, farms, and fields. I’ve spent the last 7 years here investing in projects like community healthcare clinics, job-training, and starting educational facilities. My teams and I were working in these neighborhoods where Wall St. wouldn’t come close, and this work continues.
I’m ready to keep serving this community, and I believe it’s time we had representation in Congress that understands our needs here at home. I can’t do this alone, and I need you to with me in this fight. Can you sign on to reaffirm your support for our campaign?
Let me be very clear: My decision to move our campaign back to this district is about the thousands of Californians in the Central Valley — from Tranquillity to Arvin — who stand to lose access to health care under the status quo. It’s about the hard-working immigrants who would be torn from their homes and families if this administration gets its way. And it’s about all of us who face a deteriorating social-safety net with the callous cuts to Medicare and Social Security that special interests in Washington keep pushing.
That’s where we’re headed under Donald Trump and his “yes-man” and my opponent — David Valadao.
Right now, a Democrat is well positioned to defeat Jeff Denham in CA-10. But in CA-21 — where I have deep roots — I refuse to let David Valadao off without a fight for betraying our community by voting with Trump 98.5% of the time in Congress. He’s out for the special interests, and we’ve had enough. That’s why I’m in this fight.
I know we can win the 21st. And with your support, we have a chance to make history in the Central Valley by flipping a seat that will be instrumental in winning back the U.S. House.
