Did you hear?

*** No candidate for Attorney General has been endorsed by the CDP ***

Donald Trump’s trying to shred a critical lifeline for one million women in California and four million women nationwide.

Through an important program called Title X, health clinics like Planned Parenthood’s offer life-saving access to cancer screenings, family-planning services and more.

But if Trump has his way, Title X won’t be around to save a loved one’s health or wellbeing.

I recently led 20 attorneys general to file a court brief in support of protecting the program. Our families in California and beyond are counting on us to fight and win.

Can you give $5 today and stand with me?

Today I wrote the Trump Administration outlining the stakes for California families. And again I urged the Trump Administration to drop its decision.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s tried to slash access to birth control and other family planning services.

We’ve beat him in court before but we need another victory again.

Are you with me? Please chip in $5 or more if you can

Washington Republicans should not control a woman’s right to healthcare.

Thanks for standing with me,

Xavier

San Diego CityBeat Endorses Dave Jones for Attorney General

The San Diego CityBeat weekly magazine endorsed Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones for Attorney General on Wednesday, becoming the latest publication to throw its support behind Jones.

The SD Beat, which has a circulation of 50,000 readers across San Diego County, agrees with Jones that current Appointed Attorney General Xavier Becerra has not been carrying out important responsibilities of the office of Attorney General.

Read the editorial: “On the one hand, there’s nothing particularly disagreeable about incumbent (well, of sorts) Xavier Becerra… [but] it’s a bit telling that he failed to secure his own party’s nomination at the Democratic State Convention a few months ago, while his Democratic opponent, Dave Jones, actually secured more delegate votes. [We] agree with Jones that there’s more to the job than resistance in the form of lawsuits [against the Trump administration]. There needs to be more done when it comes to enforcing environmental regulations, gun laws and the opioid crisis.”

“Dave Jones, who has served two terms as insurance commissioner and leads a consumer protection agency, is a fresh candidate with strong ideals and ideas.”

The San Diego CityBeat joins the Sacramento Bee, San Jose Mercury News, East Bay Times, Modesto Bee, Santa Cruz Sentinel, and San Francisco Bay Guardian as publications that have given their support to Jones in the Attorney General race.

“News publications, such as the San Diego CityBeat, do their homework and provide well-informed recommendations to California voters ahead of this crucial election,” Jones said. “I’m thrilled to have the support of the San Diego CityBeat and thankful that it understands in addition to suing Trump there are other important responsibilities of the Attorney General that are not getting done.”

The NRA and my opponent

*** No candidate for Attorney General has been endorsed by the CDP ***

My Republican opponent who claims to be leading in the polls is boasting about receiving an “A” grade from the NRA.  But what’s worse: he ends a public statement about the NRA endorsing him by telling Californians to “Mount up!”

As my opponent put it,”I have only one thing to say to gun owners as we head toward election day — ‘Mount Up!'”

This is dangerous rhetoric.

CNN reported this week that we’ve had 57 times as many school shootings in America than in all other industrialized nations, combined, since 2009. This figure, along with the gun violence that’s prevalent on our streets, should make us all cringe — and demand solutions.

Can you chip in $5 today to help me in our fight to prevent gun violence?

One innocent life lost is too many.

In California, we’ve taken on the gun lobby and won.

Our special agents travel across California every week to confiscate illegally held weapons. This is a one-of-a-kind program. In some instances, our agents enter homes expecting to find two illegal weapons and instead find dozens.

We’re doing something right in California to have received a “F”!

But I can’t continue this effort to advance gun safety alone, especially with my Republican opponent telling his supporters through a public statement to “Mount up!”

Will you give $5 to stand with me for gun safety?

Thank You,

Xavier

Tonight is a landmark for us all

*** No candidate for U.S. Senate has been endorsed by the CDP ***

It can be easy to feel discouraged in today’s American political climate. But tonight, we witnessed a major reason to feel hopeful.

Tonight, former House minority leader Stacey Abrams won the Democratic nomination to become Georgia’s Governor. Not just any Governor.

Georgia’s first female Governor.

Georgia’s first African-American Governor.

America’s first black woman to Govern any state in the history of our United States.

Tonight is a landmark because Senator Abrams represents all “unapologetic progressives” across this nation. She represents everyday hardworking people who fight tooth and nail for what is right because they lead with their heart and are guided by their values.

Senator Abrams step toward victory shows us that voters aren’t asleep at the wheel — that they overwhelmingly demand real representation over a truly dysfunctional status quo.

Michael, we’re officially 2 weeks away from the California primary.

If you can, please consider chipping in $3 to support my campaign to join Senator Abrams in bringing the most progressive policies to our state, and to our nation.

Thank you for being with me on this journey to a better future.

Together in victory,

Kevin
