Vote Veva Islas for Fresno City Council – District 7

As we celebrated International Women’s Day, I was reminded of the significance of my decision to run for Fresno City Council in District 7. International Women’s Day is not only about celebrating the successes of women throughout the world but is also about taking action and showing leadership.

I’m running for City council because I want to make a difference and I want to help improve the outlook and opportunities for the young girls in our community. Changes that include equality in the workplace and having more diverse representation in positions of power.

Last week, I held an event and was humbled by the amount of support and the amazing words of encouragement I received. My vision for District 7 which includes building a stronger and healthier community, as well as cultivating the next generation of leaders, are reasonable and achievable goals. But I cannot do this alone; I need your help!

Lastly, I would like to thank all of the hard-working women of Fresno who continuously inspire me. Your passion and determination to fight for what’s right and stay committed to your values, even when it seems difficult to do so, is inspiring. Also, the issues women continue to face are not new, but I am proud that I am running for Fresno City Council so that I can help enact change from within and ensure that when tough policy decisions are being debated, our voice and values can be represented.

Sincerely,

Veva Islas
