CAKE Joins Janz in Fresno to Encourage All Valley Residents to “Vote Like Hell”

CAKE originally formed as a somewhat antagonistic response to the rock bloat of grunge. The band’s defiant DIY approach and lucid yet ever-inventive music has made them a nation-state unto themselves, with no obvious peers, belonging to no particular school. In addition to writing, arranging, producing, and performing their own music, they have taught themselves to engineer their recording projects in their own Sacramento based solar-powered studio, which actually generates more power than is needed to run the studio, causing the building’s electrical meter to run in reverse. CAKE’s most recent album, SHOWROOM OF COMPASSION, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart and was touted for its “deadpan brilliance” by The New Yorker. The band is currently working on their ninth album which is due for release later this year.
Andrew Janz was raised in Visalia and is running for Congress against Devin Nunes in California’s 22nd Congressional District. Andrew’s campaigning on water for the valley, more jobs, protecting social security and Medicaid, and fighting corruption in Washington. Andrew Janz is 34 years old and resides in Fresno with his wife Heather and their two dogs.
