If anyone can download a gun using a 3D printer, then anyone can own a gun — regardless of whether they can pass a background check.

And because 3D downloadable guns can be made with plastic, they can even evade a metal detector.

So when the Trump administration decided to allow 3D downloadable guns to be available online, I joined 20 Attorneys General to sue the administration and stop these weapons from falling into the hands of would-be criminals.

Our country desperately needs more solutions to prevent gun violence. In California, we’re leaps and bounds ahead of the nation in passing strict gun safety laws. But the Trump administration is dragging us in the opposite direction, with a decision that would massively widen the loopholes in our background checks system and make our communities less safe.
