Republicans in the U.S. Senate are once again playing politics with people’s lives — trying to get rid of healthcare that so many Californians and people throughout the nation rely on.
The Affordable Care Act is crucial for millions of Americans — and the latest Republican plan to replace it is worse than what we’ve seen before.
After countless tries, Republicans in D.C. have failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act or pass their distorted version of “healthcare reform.” This latest plan is a last-ditch effort to take us backward.
Their “new” proposal is even worse than the previous ones. It would end protections for people with pre-existing conditions, impose lifetime and annual caps on coverage, and allow insurers to stop providing essential services.
One of the most disturbing elements of this new bill is that Medicaid would be cut, particularly hurting children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The Medicaid expansion, which provides health care to millions of Americans, would end completely.
As a healthcare provider, as a father, and as an American, I’m calling on Congress to put forward real solutions for healthcare, not more secretive, partisan legislation that would take us backward.
