“Repeal and Replace” of the Affordable Care Act threatens more than 20 million Americans with death and despair

Over 20 million Americans who were uninsured now have health insurance thanks to the ACA.

President-Elect Trump and Republican leaders in Congress propose to repeal the ACA. And replace it with health savings accounts which are not sufficient to enable many people to afford health insurance.

As a result, over 20 Million Americans newly insured who rely on the federal assistance in the ACA will lose their health insurance. And so at least 20 million Americans will be denied the life saving treatments and medical care they need.

Everyone already insured got a host of important consumer protections from the ACA. Like protection from being thrown off your insurance when you get sick. And banning insurers from denying health insurance to Americans with pre-existing health conditions.

So we all lose. Read my full statement here.

We won’t let this happen without a fight. But it is going to require sending a loud and clear message to Republicans in Congress and to President-Elect Trump. To learn how you can help, go to Families USA, the “leading national voice for health care consumers.”

Thank you for continuing to advocate for policies that help all Americans.

Sincerely,

DAVE JONES
