After last year, it would have been easy to sit the first three months of 2017 out, lick your wounds, and say you’d get involved with the Democratic Party again closer to the next election.
But that’s not what you did.
You rallied and marched, made phone calls and signed petitions. You raised your voice and made sure Donald Trump and Republicans knew that we would not sit back and let them attack our rights and our values without a fight.
Because of you, we stood up to Trump’s unconstitutional Muslim ban. We defeated a nominee for Labor secretary who would have run roughshod over working people. We stopped the GOP from following through on seven years of threats to repeal the Affordable Care Act and saved health care for millions. And we sent Democrats to state legislatures in Delaware, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
We’ve won some big fights in the first three months of this year because we stood together. Now, we need to channel the energy from those victories into more successes at the ballot box. And thanks to hundreds of thousands of donations like yours (averaging just $22 — a true show of our grassroots strength), we’re in a good position to do just that.
There will be more to come in the months ahead, and we’re going to do everything in our power to take our country back. But for now, I just want to thank you for what you’ve done so far and for believing in this party as much as I do. Nothing we’ve accomplished so far would have been possible without you — and I’m going to keep counting on you to stick with us.
