Yesterday’s announcement by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that he was appointing a special counsel to oversee the FBI investigation into links between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials was a positive development.
Over the last several weeks, nearly 600,000 of you have taken action with our campaign on this issue—from demanding Sessions recuse himself to fighting for the appointment of this special counsel. This victory was a result of your voices and actions.
However, this fight is far from over. I will continue to do everything in my power to learn the unfettered truth and ensure this investigation has the resources it needs and is uninhibited by political influence from the White House. I’ll also continue to keep you updated with action alerts on how you can make a difference.
It’s been a crazy week. Take a deep breath. With each morning bringing some new and troubling development in the Trump-Russia investigation, we can’t be overwhelmed at a time that requires us to fight.
There’s so much ahead of us—including stopping the Republican health care plan and opposing Sessions’ renewed War on Drugs. Let’s continue to fight for our shared values.
Thanks for everything you do.
U.S. Senator, California
