Padilla denounced voter fraud claims: ‘Now I know how Elizabeth Warren felt’

I don’t have to tell you that President Trump’s administration is misleading the public, especially when it comes to voting and elections.

By repeating his claim that voter fraud blocked him from winning the popular vote, President Trump is attacking the legitimacy of our free and fair elections and is taking a jackhammer to the foundation of our democracy. These are not “alternative facts.” They are corrosive lies without evidence.

When the President and his administration make baseless allegations, it’s dangerous and we must speak out. Defending the right to vote should not be a partisan issue.

Last week I attended the National Association of Secretaries of State’s Conference in Washington, DC where I proposed a resolution calling on President Trump to stop his baseless voter fraud allegations. My Republican colleagues would not even bring it up for discussion, much less a vote.

This resolution was something we should have all agreed on. Now I know how Elizabeth Warren felt when she was silenced.

Want to fight back? Sign this petition and tell Trump to stop his baseless voter fraud allegations.

This blatant disregard for voting rights is not acceptable for a Secretary of State, the President, or any other leader in the United States.

As your Secretary of State, I will fight tooth and nail to defend every Californian’s right to vote, and to fight President Trump’s dangerous agenda.

We have a lot of work to do. Will you join me in the fight?
