My public school teachers made a difference in my life.  Throughout my career working in education as a social worker and nonprofit leader, and later as an elected leader, I’ve prioritized the input of teachers when making decisions on what will be best for our students. 

These teachers of the year have distinguished themselves as among the most innovative and effective teachers in our state.  I can’t wait to learn from them and apply their experiences to improve public education for every student in California.
