In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to contribute to support undocumented youth who need help renewing DACA through United We Dream’s DACA Renewal Fund. But first, I hope you’ll let me explain why this fund is so critical right now, and what exactly your contribution would achieve.
DACA was first announced six years ago this week, as a way to protect undocumented youth who came to the United States as children from deportation, and to allow them the opportunities to access education, start their careers, stay with their families, and build a life here.
It is true that the Administration ended this program for new applicants. But current DACA recipients can still apply for renewal thanks to a court ruling — and it’s critical that all who can renew are able to do so.
Renewing DACA, however, is not only complicated but also expensive. DACA recipients must pay a $495 renewal application fee, and for many undocumented youth, that is just not possible. That’s where we come in:
United We Dream has set up a DACA Renewal Fund and is hosting clinics around the country to help DACA recipients apply for renewal, including covering application fees for those who can’t afford it. But at $495 per fee, this adds up quickly, and they will need a tremendous outpouring of support from folks like you to ensure all those who need help receive it. That’s why I’m asking:
Can you donate to the DACA Renewal Fund now to support this important resource for DACA recipients across the country?
If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation to the DACA Renewal Fund will go through immediately:

Just in California alone, there are over 50 DACA recipients who have requested scholarships to cover their renewal application fees. And across the country, there are hundreds more. It won’t be easy to raise the resources we need to cover these scholarships, but I know that if enough of us are willing to come together now, we can make a difference for these kids.
In this political climate, we are limited in what we can accomplish in Congress to protect undocumented youth. But right now, we have an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of DACA recipients across the country — and there is absolutely nothing the Administration or anyone else can do to stop us from helping with DACA renewal fees.
I am personally asking you to add a donation to the DACA Renewal Fund today of $4.95, $495, or whatever is meaningful to you:

Thank you for all you do,
— Kamala
