This weekend not only marked the beginning of a government shutdown — but yesterday was also the one year anniversary of President Trump’s inauguration.
Over the last year, we’ve been inundated with attacks on our rights and values, and had to constantly worry about nuclear war. Our president and Congress gave away billions to the wealthiest Americans, let funding for children’s health care expire, fueled hate and discrimination, refused to support immigration reform that would keep families together, and failed us as a nation. And now the president’s partisan games has forced the federal government to shut down.
Yet, Californians haven’t cowered in fear, or let pessimism drag us down. We’ve organized our communities, launched winning campaigns for office, registered our neighbors to vote, and prepared to turn the 2018 election into the start of a new era for our state and our nation.
What happens next is up to you. I’m ready to stand up to Washington and build a better future for California, but I need your help.
Right now, governors and state officials are Americans’ last line of defense. I’ve been proud to have worked with Governor Brown time and again to get things done for Californians when Washington refused, and I’ve been proud to know that you have our backs.
With the 2018 election approaching fast, Californians need to know, now more than ever, that their next governor will do more than just give speeches when our president threatens to destabilize our communities, take away our rights, and bully our members of Congress — we need a governor who will continue to deliver results.
I’m ready to be the governor that Californians can count on, no matter what happens in Washington. But I need your help to turn the enthusiasm of our movement into victory on Election Day.
Chip in now to make sure we have the resources to build a better road for California in 2018.
Thanks for your support,
John
