On Saturday, it will have been 100 days since Donald Trump assumed America’s highest office, Michael.
He promised to drain the swamp, but instead, he stocked it with bigger alligators — from bigots like Jeff Sessions to people like Betsy DeVos and Steven Mnuchin making up the wealthiest Cabinet in history.
He promised to improve the lives of millions of Americans, but everything he has done has accomplished the exact opposite at the expense of American families.
On his first very day in office, he made it harder to save for retirement and for first-time homebuyers to buy a home.
Fear and hatred have been the driving force behind policies that demonize immigrants, tear apart families, and punish innocent refugees.
His proposed budget cuts job training, mental health services, and rural economic development programs. He’s even chasing funds from Meals on Wheels and money that helps seniors warm their homes during the winter just so he can give millionaires and billionaires a tax break. All while he’s spent an estimated $25 million in taxpayer money on golf vacations — he spent 19 of his first 90 days at a Trump-branded resort.
For 100 days, Donald Trump has broken promise after promise as hardworking Americans paid the price. And we’re fighting back.
Folks like you in California and all over this country have shown up at town halls, at airports, at rallies. You’ve marched and made phone calls to save affordable health care, stop a Muslim ban, defeat an anti-worker Cabinet nominee, and so much more.
The hallmark of Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office will be resistance. Let’s make sure we’re able to keep resisting for the next hundred, and the hundred after that, and on until Donald Trump is out of office for good.
