As we commemorate Dr. King’s birthday this Monday, we recommit ourselves to the hard work of building a California where all people are treated with dignity and respect — both in our relations with one another and in the policies that shape our world.
Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.

Dr. King laid the foundation for much of the work California Democrats are able to do today, from strengthening civil rights protections for the historically marginalized to providing a sanctuary for people coming to the United States for the first time, hoping that, maybe here, they can achieve lives of peace and dignity.
