Say NO to the Republican Recall

Say NO to the Republican Recall

https://stoptherepublicanrecall.com

Who is behind the recall?

A partisan, Republican coalition of anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers, QAnon conspiracy theorists and Trump supporters.

The recall is powered by a partisan, Republican coalition of national Republicans, anti-vaxxers, QAnon conspiracy theorists, anti-immigrant activists and Trump supporters. They want to overturn Governor Newsom’s election, and their victory could threaten California’s efforts to fight COVID-19.

From the Los Angeles Times:

“Allied with radical and extreme elements… includ[ing] groups promoting distrust of government, science and medicine; peddlers of QAnon doomsday conspiracies; “patriots” readying for battle and one organization allied with the far-right extremist group, the Proud Boys.”

POLITICO reported how one of the co-founders and chief organizers of the recall suggested it would be a good idea to “microchip” immigrants, and anti-immigrant rhetoric has been central to recall organizers’ appeals to supporters.

National Republicans like Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee and Devin Nunes have all backed the recall effort. The Republican National Committee has even cut the recall a $250,000 check.

Instead of fighting COVID-19, Republicans are pulling a page from the Trump playbook and attacking Californians. In fact, a Republican recall will cost the state $100 million – money that could be used to help vaccinate our communities.

Fresno County Voter’s Choice Act Advisory Committee Meeting Dates

VCAAC-2021-Save-the-Date-Flyer

The Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters would like to announce the re-start of the Fresno County Voter’s Choice Act Advisory Committee.  Please find attached a save the date flyer with planned meeting dates for the second half of the year.  The Voter’s Choice Act Advisory Committee is an opportunity for interested members of the community to provide input on how the Voter’s Choice Act is implemented in Fresno County.  This year’s meetings will be focused on a general amendment and update of the Fresno County Election Administration Plan requiring community feedback on a wide range of Voter’s Choice Act topics.

Meetings are currently planned for the third Wednesday of each month, but those dates might be adjusted after participant feedback from our first meetings on July 21.  Each meeting will be held twice, once at 4:00pm and then again at 5:30pm.  The 5:30pm meeting will have online access options.  Each in-person meeting will be held at the Election Warehouse Training room, 4525 E Hamilton Ave, Fresno 93702.  Additional community-based meetings will be held in the Fall throughout the County.

Voter’s Choice Act Advisory Committee meetings work best when we get a large turnout of interested and varied community voices.  Along with asking you to “Save the Date” for our July 21 meeting, please forward this email to your friends, colleagues, and associates that are invested in how elections will be conducted in Fresno County going forward.  An agenda and connectivity information will be distributed on July 6.

Residents Invited to Submit Applications by May 14 to Serve on the Advisory Redistricting Commission

COUNTY OF FRESNO, CA (April 28, 2021) – County of Fresno residents interested in serving on the County’s Advisory Redistricting Commission are invited to submit their applications prior to the upcoming application deadline of Friday, May 14, 2021.

Every 10 years, local governments use new data from the Census to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. This year, the County formed an 11-person Advisory Commission to recommend boundary changes for supervisorial districts to the Board for possible modification and adoption.

“This Advisory Redistricting Commission will play an important role in representing our diverse community during the process of redrawing our district lines,” said Steve Brandau, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. “The 2020 Census data will show how our population has changed since 2010, and it’s important that our district boundaries be evaluated and adjusted if needed to account for those changes.”

Members of the Fresno County community are invited to participate in the decennial redistricting process to make sure district lines respect neighborhoods, history and geographical elements.
Each commissioner selected to serve the County of Fresno must be a resident of the County. Residents with family relationships with those who have been elected to, appointed to or a candidate for an elective office may not serve on the Commission. To see a full list of commissioner qualifications, please read the County’s resolution adopting an Advisory Redistricting Commission.

With the redistricting process moving forward, the County has launched a dedicated redistricting webpage, which will include details on future public hearings, mapping opportunities, FAQs and more.
