Democrats in the California Assembly need to pick up only a couple of seats in the November elections to win two-thirds control of the chamber. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has performed terribly against Hillary Clinton in the last few California polls. In a normal election year, that would be a bad sign for Republicans running down-ticket. Typically, the most high-profile races drive turnout. http://www.capradio.org/80941
Statement from endorsed Congressional candidate Emilio Huerta on Mike Pence’s visit to the Central Valley:
“I would like to welcome Mike Pence to the Central Valley. I hope he will take the opportunity to meet with some of the people who have been hurt by the policies of his Republican ticket and David Valadao. The Central Valley residents who would lose their health coverage if he and David Valadao are successful in repealing the Affordable Care Act; the families that struggle to pay their bills and put food on their tables because of Republican opposition to raising the minimum wage; the parents and children torn apart as comprehensive immigration reform is blocked.
“However, I am simply not optimistic about Gov. Pence having a change of heart. My opponent, David Valadao, shares the same harmful agenda as the Trump-Pence ticket despite seeing the results of those policies.”

FRESNO—Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine’s recent speech in Wilmington, N.C., made the case that Hillary Clinton is the only presidential candidate with the experience and temperament to be Commander-in-Chief of the United States. During her tenure as Secretary of State, Clinton built an unprecedented international coalition for sanctions against Iran and then negotiated the landmark deal to keep nuclear weapons out of Iran’s hands once those sanctions succeeded in getting the regime to the table.
Clinton also battled with Russian politicians to hammer out the 2010 nuclear arms reduction treaty, New START, that cut the number of nuclear missile launchers in half. Since then, Clinton has been a vocal critic of Russia’s military action against Ukraine and its intervention in Syria, which has focused more on destroying the political enemies of the dictator, Bashar al-Assad, than on destroying ISIS.
Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia seems considerably chummier in comparison. For three decades, Trump’s businesses have pursued deals with Russian officials, oligarchs and developers with deep ties to the Russian state. A Putin associate once paid Trump millions to consider moving his Miss Universe beauty pageant to Russia.
Because Trump refuses to release his tax records, it is difficult to say what economic ties he currently has, so we must look at his campaign’s message to predict what he would do. The man who until a few weeks ago was Trump’s chief campaign manager, Paul Manafort, resigned after allegations of corruption, illegal payments and financial ties to Kremlin-supported officials. Trump himself, in addition to jokingly encouraging Russia to hack more U.S. government targets, has denied the existence of the Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine that followed Russian’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.
“The world stage is a treacherous place these days, with many intricacies and subtleties that Donald Trump simply cannot comprehend much less digest,” says Michael D. Evans, chair of the Fresno County Democratic Party. “For the United States to have a responsible role globally, we need leadership that is respected both at home and abroad.”
The Fresno County Democratic Party is united behind Hillary Clinton for President. The official Coordinated Campaign headquarters is at 1035 U Street in downtown Fresno. To volunteer or for more information, contact 559-495-0606 or fresnocountydemocrats@yahoo.com.
Ninety-Five Retired Generals and Admirals Endorse Hillary Clinton
More Than Any Recent Democratic Nominee for President
Hillary for America announced that 95 retired Generals and Admirals, including a number of 4-Star Generals, have officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for president and Commander-in-Chief. Clinton is getting the backing of more senior military service members and former officials with command and management experience than any non-incumbent Democrat due to her proven record of diplomacy and steady leadership on the world stage. She will make her case tonight at the Commander-in-Chief Forum presented by NBC and the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, lacks the knowledge, stability and values to be Commander-in-Chief. According to yesterday’s media reports, Trump has received more than 400 fewer endorsements than Mitt Romney received – 88 to Romney’s 500.
Today, General Lloyd “Fig” Newton, a 4-Star General and America’s first African-American Thunderbird pilot, joined his fellow military service members and released a statement endorsing Hillary Clinton for President:
“I was privileged to serve my country for 34 plus years — my entire adult life — in the United States Air Force. Growing up in South Carolina, respect for individual liberties and the right for every person to vote was taught to me at an early age and it is of the utmost importance to me today. These fundamental rights are why I served and care so deeply about our great nation. Given the challenges we face around the world today, and the rhetoric we are hearing from some at home, I feel I have a moral imperative to come forth and endorse Secretary Hillary Clinton for President. This is not about Democrat or Republican, this is about who is best qualified to lead the country in this complex world we live in. Hillary Clinton is the only candidate that has the experience, temperament, critical thinking and level-headed leadership to keep America safe and our partnerships strong. She has my vote in November.”
