Happy July 4th

*** No candidate for U.S. Senate has been endorsed by the CDP ***

I know many of you are spending this holiday celebrating the birth of our nation with your family and friends. As we reflect on our uniquely American story, I wanted to send a note of thanks, and a note of hope.

First, I want to thank you for joining me on this incredible journey. I am grateful that you’ve given my campaign your time, your attention, your money, and your support. It means the world to me.

Second, I want to remind folks that despite the bleak times caused by our president, progress is still possible in this great country of ours. It may take toil and sweat (and maybe even some swearing!) — but whatever it takes, the promise of America is that through hard work, we can achieve great things together.

Just yesterday in the California Senate, we crossed a major hurdle: after a yearlong fight, we’re the closest we’ve ever been to securing a 100% clean energy future for our state.

Last week, in cities across the nation, we joined hearts and linked arms to defend the defenseless. We joined a storied tradition of ordinary people, united against fascism, racism, and fear-mongers, fighting to return a sense of moral clarity to our nation’s highest office.

Our progress is proof that when we come together, united by the ideals and platform of this party, we can achieve the impossible. After all, in what other nation could the son of an immigrant mother rise from a Barrio Logan basement to the highest legislative office in Sacramento?

There will be battles ahead. There will be tough times. Maybe even some tears. But let’s take the day to be with our families and loved ones. Let’s take some time to remind ourselves what makes all the tears, toil and sweat worthwhile.

In solidarity,

Kevin de León

Our Beautiful Country

*** No candidate for Lt. Governor has been endorsed by the CDP ***

Growing up in an immigrant family, I was raised with a strong sense of patriotism. In no other country could my Greek immigrant family – and all immigrant families – come with nothing and be welcomed and celebrated as Americans. Where else could immigrants turn hard work and determination into a truly better life – buy a home, go to college, and live a life of pride and dignity? Only in America.

This Fourth of July, as a candidate for Lt. Governor, I’m even more determined to fight to keep the pathway of the American Dream open for all here in California. That means building an economy with better paying jobs and bringing down the cost of living – especially housing, healthcare, and higher education. It also means fighting for the values that make us who we are – equality, justice, freedom, and democracy.

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday, let’s help make sure all our friends and family are registered to vote on November 6th, so that together, we can perform one of the greatest acts of patriotism – voting!

Happy Fourth of July!

TJ Cox for Congress

I have awesome news to share.

With your help, we recorded our biggest grassroots fundraising month to date, and we CRUSHED our June fundraising goal.

As someone who cares deeply for the Central Valley and its future, I can’t thank you enough for putting your belief and support behind this campaign.

We have to keep fighting: With the latest rulings out of the Supreme Court attacking workers’ rights and codifying Trump’s travel ban, to the Department of Justice’s cruel and short-sighted attempt to revoke protections for those with pre-existing conditions — it’s more important than ever that we stay focused on the task at hand.

I need to hear from you: Can you take our issues survey and tell me what our legislative priorities need to be?

Thank you,

TJ

P.S. I depend on this community for feedback and look forward to personally reading your responses. Take the survey here >>

Happy Fourth of July!

Dear Friend,

The week of the Fourth of July is a special time for Americans.

It’s not just about spending time with family and friends, it is also an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the ideas and values on which our country was founded.

For my Fourth of July video message, click here:

Join me in celebrating these ideas of freedom and equality, and in remembering that our shared values form a common bond that is far stronger than any differences we may have.

Sincerely,

Jim Costa
Member of Congress

An important reminder from 2009

*** No candidate for U.S. Senate has been endorsed by the CDP ***

This week the Supreme Court sided with corporate billionaires to threaten hardworking families in California; an outright attack on unions that reminds me of a story from 2009, when Democrats controlled the government.

At the time, our objective was to move transformative legislation before Midterm elections threatened our majority.

We made an enormous push to make life better for every working family in America. That meant making it easier to form unions with the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), to provide economic justice and equality for workers.

It was co-sponsored by a wide range of Democrats in both chambers.

But after supporting it on the campaign trail, when it came time to pass legislation, Senator Dianne Feinstein said it was suddenly “too divisive.”

Senator Feinstein led the fight to scuttle EFCA, proposing a “compromise” that kept the scales balanced toward bosses and employers.

Imagine 9 years of organizing under fair rules in the private sector. It would have made the Janus hit a lot easier to absorb. Instead, private sector unionization rates have continued to slide southward, taking political and economic power for workers with it.

I know things look bleak right now. But future opportunities to protect workers will exist.

I promise you this: I won’t scuttle laws to strengthen unions. I’ll champion them each day I’m in office.

That’s the kind of State Senator I’ve been, and it’s the kind of US Senator I pledge to be. It’s the very least that Californians deserve.

If you agree, please chip in whatever you can afford to my campaign before our critical June 30th end of quarter deadline:
