Friends, Below are announcements of activities that folks who have corresponded with me about the Working America in the Central Valley project might find of interest. To catch you up quickly on the Working America in the Central Valley project, we spent last week doing intensive fundraising in southern California – and will continue along that path. Also participated in a meeting of various labor and community organizations who will be focusing in some part and in some way on some of the CDs in which we are planning to canvass. The idea behind that meeting was to make sure we are all in sync with each other. We are hoping we can bring together the local groups in CD-10 and CD-21 in the next few weeks to form a similar “table” of interested organizations. Additionally, we will be meeting next week with folks from the national Working America office and with labor here in California to initiate discussions about how we will identify the “turf” and identify the folks we plan on canvassing. Finally, our separate Naturalization project that involves assisting those eligible throughout the state to apply for citizenship is moving along. Folks interested in the planning process will be meeting at my office at 6 pm on Thursday April 6. If you are interested in the planning activities, please RSVP to me so we can leave your name at the Security desk. Fran & Lora Jo

PS. Thanks to folks who turned out in Modesto for the door hanger project on March 18. This was a very well run program pulled together by Jack Gribbon and Mario Yedidia of UNITE HERE along with Tim Robertson from the North Valley Labor Council and with assistance from Lucia Nunez and Karen Diaz. So thanks to all of them as well.
