Join us for a six-week discussion about White Privilege, using the United Church of Christ’s White Privilege: Let’s Talk curriculum. We will explore the ways that systemic racism has upheld white privilege, discover ways we can recognize our own privilege, and begin our work to uphold justice.
Description: California Health Sciences University (CHSU) will host its 3rd annual Free Health Fair for the general public on Saturday, September 16th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at their College of Pharmacy campus in Clovis.
Community Medical Centers is the presenting sponsor of the Health Fair, which will offer free health care services, health screenings and education for the entire family. Walgreens is also partnering as a sponsor to offer flu immunizations at no cost to the first 300 qualified individuals nine years or older, from 9:00am – 2:00pm or until supplies are depleted.
Bi-lingual licensed health providers from the community will be providing free screenings for asthma, vision, heart failure, high blood pressure and diabetes. A family dentist will also be on site to provide dental exams, cleanings and emergency care. Be sure to bring your family, there will be a Kids Zone with inflatables and free activities for children!
You are invited to attend this month’s meeting of the Fresno Area Coalition of Organized Labor on Friday, August 25, 2017. The meeting starts at noon at Pardini’s located at 2257 West Shaw Avenue. The meeting notice is attached.
Our August guest speaker will be Mike Rhodes, author of “Dispatches from the War Zone.” Mike is a community activist and former editor of the Community Alliance newspaper and his book details his coverage of homelessness in Fresno from 2002 – 2015. .
