Fresno, CA – On Tuesday, November 21, 2018 at 1225 “M” Street, Fresno, CA (in front of Fresno County Jail) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., We the People Org will be having a rally and press conference. The rally, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., will be to stand up against industrialized slavery aka mass incarceration. Two-thirds of the prison population is black and brown men, woman, and children. Minorities and the poor are targets in the judicial system. Instead of our communities getting resources to help, the disadvantaged are being classified as criminals and thrown into cages.
We the People Org is a nonprofit social justice/watchdog organization here to push change in our communities! At the press conference from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., We the People Org will be announcing, and explaining their initiative, The People’s Fair Sentencing & Public Safety Act of 2018, being moved to the California November 2018 ballot. It is the next monumental step in dismantling the Three Strikes Law.
At this event, people will be able to get involved by signing up to volunteer with signature gathering for the initiative. There will be a Rally and Protest this Friday at Fresno City Hall to advocate for transgender rights and safety – focusing on the Homeless No Camping ordinance. The event will be at 4:30 p.m. and it would be great if you could come and show your support for this important cause. Zoyer Zyndel, one of the organizers of the event, invited me to say a few words about how few shelter beds there are for the homeless and why that is a problem.
