Senator Kamala Harris endorses Alex Padilla

I am thrilled to share that our United States Senator Kamala Harris has endorsed my campaign for re-election as Secretary of State.

Senator Harris has been a fearless fighter in the Senate on behalf of Californians, and I am honored by her support. She has been out front on issues that are central to our values – protecting DACA, ensuring access to healthcare for everyone, and protecting our nation’s security. I am proud of the work she has done so far in Washington, and I am humbled by her endorsement.

Here is what Senator Harris had to say about my candidacy:

“Secretary Padilla is a valuable and tireless partner in our effort to address election threats and protect Californians. He stopped this Administration from raiding California’s voter rolls and continues to be a national leader to ensure all voters can make their voice heard, without interference. This is a critical time in our country and we need Secretary Padilla’s experience, track record, and dedication to his office. I am proud to endorse him in this race.”

Please join Kamala Harris and so many other California leaders in endorsing my re-election campaign.

Working together, we will send a loud and clear message that we will not hesitate to stand up to Trump and to stand up to defend our democracy.

Thank you,

Alex Padilla

SEN. HERNANDEZ EARNS MORE SUPPORT FROM YOUNG PEOPLE, ACTIVISTS IN LT. GOVERNOR’S RACE

San Bernardino County Young Democrats Endorse Senator Ed Hernandez

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — Following news that just yesterday he collected a high-powered endorsement from the Los Angeles Police Protective League, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez landed a key grassroots endorsement from the San Bernardino County Young Democrats (SBCYD) in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor.

In making their endorsement public, the San Bernardino County Young Democrats posted on their organization’s campaign Facebook page that, “SBCYD is proud to announce endorsement of the following candidates: Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D. for Lt. Governor 2018… We look forward to helping all endorsed candidates any way we can.”

Senator Hernandez responded by remarking, “I really appreciate this endorsement from the San Bernardino County Young Democrats. Their support helps to show the depth and breadth of support our effort is building throughout the state every single day, and I am thrilled to be working with them on my campaign.”

Recently, State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez rolled out a new digital video ad, titled “Proven Progressive,” in his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor. The ad highlights some of the Senator’s high-powered endorsements, including from the California Nurses Association and the California Teachers Association, along with his 100% legislative voting scorecard from organizations like the California Labor Federation* and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Advocates*.

Significantly, recently California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ groundbreaking drug transparency bill, SB-17, into law.  Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times. Renee highlights Senator Hernandez’ efforts to combat skyrocketing drug costs in the ad.

A husband, father, grandfather, practicing optometrist, and local businessman, “Dr. Ed” (as he is known to his patients) has spent his life bringing quality eye care to predominantly low-income communities.  As a health care provider, the need to improve access to health care for all Californians is what first drove him to run for office.

Since being elected to the Assembly in 2006 and the Senate in 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez has been a leader on the implementation of federal health care reform – helping expand access to affordable health care, control costs, and improve the network of providers so people can actually get quality care when they need it. Dr. Ed has been a champion by expanding educational opportunity to qualified students overlooked by our public schools and universities, as well as a major proponent for government reform, including fixing a broken initiative system too often hijacked by billionaires and wealthy corporations. Dr. Ed Hernandez is running to take this experience, leadership, and vision to the next level by serving the people of California as their Lieutenant Governor.
