California Democrats –

Happy New Year!

As we usher in a new year, let’s remember that 2022 is an election year.

New federal, state, and local districts have been drawn across the State. Many ballot measures have qualified and there are plenty more on the way. So, the stakes are incredibly high – not just here in California, but across the Nation.

As California Democrats, we must lead the rest of the country to victory in 2022. We do it by engaging 10 million Democrats to connect with voters by any means necessary. If we do the hard work it takes to win, I know that our Democracy will be better because of us.

Today, let’s celebrate 2022. But, tomorrow, let’s get to work!

Democratically Yours,

Congressman Jim Costa Launches
Re-election Campaign

Today, Congressman Jim Costa (D-Fresno) announced he is running for re-election to the United States Congress and issued the following statement:

“I’ve spent my career working to ensure everyone has the chance to be a part of a strong middle-class and has what they need to raise their families in safe, healthy communities.  Navigating the global pandemic and expanding access to quality healthcare, especially in our rural and underserved communities, delivering cleaner air and protecting critically needed access to water for our families and farmers requires steady, battle-tested leadership.

“That’s why I am proud to announce that I will be running for re-election to Congress, to continue being that leader.  In Congress, I will continue my commitment to ensuring our families, children and small business owners can thrive in a post-quarantine world and come back even stronger.  I am looking forward to the road ahead and continuing to serve our Valley and all Californians.  I look forward to campaigning vigorously and earning the vote of those who call our Valley home.”

Jim Costa was first elected to Congress in 2004 and was most recently re-elected in 2020, soundly defeating a Democratic challenger in the primary and a Republican opponent in the general election.  He is a farmer and has been one of the Valley’s leading advocates for good paying jobs, reliable access to water, cleaner air, and quality health care.

Congressman Costa is running for California’s 21st Congressional District, which includes the cities of Fresno, Dinuba, Exeter, Parlier, Reedley, Sanger, Selma and other communities in Fresno and Tulare Counties.  Congressman Costa has previously represented many of these communities over the course of his career in public service.

The 2022 primary will be held on June 7, 2022.
