| Sergio Garcia didn’t back down when he was told he couldn’t become a lawyer and help other undocumented immigrants.
He pressed forward and became the first undocumented DREAMer licensed to practice law in the nation. Since being admitted to the State Bar in 2014 he has helped more than 1,500 Californians apply for DACA. I’m proud to have earned Sergio’s support and will continue to stand with him and our immigrant communities to fight for justice.
Sergio’s success and contributions to our state and country are emblematic of the more than 800,000 young adults here working and going to school under the DACA program. We promised them that if they spoke up, we would provide them a path to citizenship. We cannot betray that trust.
