I’ve got bad news.
President Trump’s administration just announced new rules that halt fuel efficiency standards, pollution standards, and most importantly, attack California’s right to regulate polluters and fight climate change on its own.
I’m ready to fight back, and I know you are too.
Rolling back federal clean car standards will drive up fuel costs, increase asthma rates across the nation, and accelerate climate change, while stifling innovation in our automotive industry.
We will do everything within our power to stop this misguided effort to enrich the fossil fuel industry on the pockets and lungs of the American people.
Unlike Trump, I care deeply about our climate future, Michael.
That’s why I wrote SB 350, the law that requires fifty percent of the Golden State’s energy consumption be renewable by 2030.
That act created thousands of green jobs for hardworking Californians. Those accomplishments are proof positive that environmental stewardship and astounding economic growth go hand in hand.
And we’re fighting to go even further with SB 100, which will set California on the path to 100% clean energy by 2045.
This attack is the latest example of Trump’s administration trying to export their backwards values to California.
If you elect me to the U.S. Senate this November, I’ll make sure we start doing the opposite.
