Vigil to commemorate the My Lai Massacre that took place exactly 50 years ago on March 16, 1968. We will remember the horror and acknowledge the role of the U. S. in the deaths of 500 Vietnamese civilians – mostly women, children, and elderly. Hold a sign or banner marking this sad day. As we pause and reflect on the human cost of war, we will commit ourselves to working for peace and social justice in the world. Hosted by Veterans For Peace – Fresno Chapter and Peace Fresno. MY LAI MEMORIAL EXHIBIT

Fifty years ago at the height of the American war in Vietnam an event, known as the My Lai Massacre, took place in a small village. US troops killed unarmed women, children, old people and animals in a bloodbath that lasted several hours and involved four platoons, about 150 American soldiers.
This traveling exhibit created by Veterans For Peace – Chicago Chapter uses the My Lai Massacre as the lens to view the tragic impact of the war on the people of Vietnam and Southeast Asia. It invites us to renew our commitment to work for peace and social justice in the world.
The exhibit consists of 5 areas: informational panels, interactive touch-screen simulations, sculptural collage building, a take action kiosk, and a sharing wall. Wednesday, March 14, 3:00 – 3:30 pm, KFCF 88.1 the Fresno Center for Nonviolence monthly radio show will be hosted by Joshua Shurley. His guest for the show is Mac MacDevitt from Chicago Veterans for Peace. Mac is the artist, creator and project leader for the My Lai Memorial exhibit. They will be discussing the massacre, the Vietnam War, recent wars and, of course, the upcoming exhibit on March 24. This is a call-in show so if you have questions call 559-266-8888.
