It’s a not-so-sneaky ploy: Mitch McConnell wants to pass a drastic 20-week abortion ban in the Senate, but he’s met with fierce opposition. So, the House is now considering an even more appalling six-week abortion ban, thinking we’ll let the 20-week ban pass (since it appears less extreme) in order to fight this new one.

Our opponents are spreading lies around these bills, but here are the facts: Any abortion ban gravely threatens patients’ health and safety. That’s because they insert politicians into the private decision-making process regarding health care that should be left between patients and their doctors.
Unfortunately, I’m not just talking hypothetically. In states that have passed similar bans, people have been forced to travel out of state or be denied access to safe, legal abortion.
Let me be absolutely clear: We will fight tooth and nail to make sure abortion bans do not become our new reality nationwide. But the threat is very real. Our opponents control both chambers of Congress and the White House — they have the power to turn their heartless agenda into an all-out assault on safe and legal abortion, all for the sake of politics. That’s why it’s critical that every senator and every representative hears from us now.
