To have a strong middle class, we need strong unions, which is why I am so honored to have earned endorsements from IBEW Local 100, Sheetmetal Workers, Int’l Association 162, Carpenters 701 and Teamsters 431. Without a doubt, we need strong unions to fight growing inequality and strengthen the middle class.
I know that to ensure that all families have opportunities and bright futures here in the Valley, we need strong unions. I have worked closely with my brothers and sisters in labor to create thousands of local jobs and ensure that those jobs provide the living wage, health care and a pension that all families deserve. In Congress, I will continue to put the interests of our Central Valley families ahead of special interest.
This idea is catching fire and our campaign has been showing momentum. We have been working hard – traveling all over the district and talking with Valley families – and that hard work is paying off. In just three months, we were able to raise over $150,000 – and 88 percent of it came from individual contributions. I kept my word and stuck to my pledge to not take any corporate PAC money.
We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but our fundraising numbers show that working families in the district have had enough of the status quo. While my opponent raises a majority of his money from corporate political action committees, I’m going out and asking everyone I meet to join our campaign so we can fix the broken health care system, make college affordable and rebuild the middle class.
Best,
Esmeralda
