SEN. ED HERNANDEZ BROADENS L.A. SUPPORT IN LT. GOV BID
Los Angeles City Council Members Bob Blumenfield and Paul Koretz Join Council Colleague Curren Price, L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer in Endorsing Senator Ed Hernandez in Statewide Contest
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA — Bolstering his campaign for California Lieutenant Governor, today State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez won a duo of high-powered endorsements from Los Angeles City Council Members Bob Blumenfield and Paul Koretz. The two leaders join their colleague, Los Angeles City Council Member Curren Price, along with Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, and Los Angeles area local leaders, County Supervisor Hilda Solis and County Assessor Jeffrey Prang, all of which previously backed the Senator’s statewide bid.

In announcing their support, Los Angeles City Council Members Blumenfield and Koretz released the following statements:

“As a former state lawmaker, I’ve seen Senator Ed Hernandez in action. He is deeply knowledgeable about issues impacting people all over California, and he’s proven himself as a leader for working families, for patients, students, environmental protections and a strong, thriving middle class economy. I’m proud to support his campaign for California Lt. Governor.”
— Los Angeles City Council Member Bob Blumenfield

“I’m endorsing Ed Hernandez because he’s extraordinarily qualified and well prepared to lead as our state’s next Lt. Governor. He’s battle-tested and has a tangible record of delivering on job creation, environmental protection, workers rights protections and increased healthcare access. We need Ed Hernandez as our next Lt. Governor and I’m thrilled to back his campaign.”
— Los Angeles City Council Member Paul Koretz

These critical endorsement follows news that Senator Hernandez has raised over $2 million for the statewide effort.

Beyond today’s announcement, Senator Dr. Hernandez’ campaign has released an expansive list of over 400 endorsements from grassroots activists, community leaders, federal, state and local elected officials, public safety groups and close to 50 labor unions.

A husband, father, grandfather, practicing optometrist, and local businessman, “Dr. Ed” (as he is known to his patients) has spent his life bringing quality eye care to predominantly low-income communities.  As a health care provider, the need to improve access to health care for all Californians is what first drove him to run for office.

Since being elected to the Assembly in 2006 and the Senate in 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez has been a leader on the implementation of federal health care reform – helping expand access to affordable health care, control costs, and improve the network of providers so people can actually get quality care when they need it. Dr. Ed has been a champion by expanding educational opportunity to qualified students overlooked by our public schools and universities, as well as a major proponent for government reform, including fixing a broken initiative system too often hijacked by billionaires and wealthy corporations. Dr. Ed Hernandez is running to take this experience, leadership, and vision to the next level by serving the people of California as their Lieutenant Governor.
