Rep. TJ Cox Amendment to the Climate Action Now Act
Passes the House of Representatives
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman TJ Cox (CA-21) joined his House colleagues in a bipartisan vote to pass the Climate Action Now Act, which ensures our country honors our commitments in the Paris Climate Accord and requires the President to develop a plan on how the U.S. will meet its pledge. The legislation passed with a Cox amendment that helps create a clean energy economy by taking into consideration the various populations, regions, and industries affected by climate change, while reducing any possible impact on American jobs.
“There may be no other place that has felt the impacts of climate change the way my constituents have in the Central Valley. We’ve seen it in the shorter winters, hotter summers, reduced precipitation, and the unreliability of our water supply. That’s why I’m proud to have voted in support of this critical piece of legislation that will protect public health; advance our economy; and ensure we have clean air and a reliable water supply for the future of our Valley families,” said Congressman TJ Cox.
“When we discuss the issue of climate change and how we will address it, we must take into account job creation and opportunities for American workers. My amendment does just that by helping create a clean energy economy that provides good-paying 21st century jobs for millions of Americans. We cannot afford to take steps back in this fight and we must keep our word to work with the rest of the world in addressing the climate challenge head on.”
