I hope you’re enjoying this Sunday honoring the moms in your life.

You’ve heard me say it before, but without my mom, I wouldn’t be here. I don’t just mean that literally, of course. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’m a candidate for president of the United States because of the example she set.

Grace, courage, service, love — that’s what Carolyn Booker has always sought to instill in me.

It all comes down to that love — of our families, of our communities, of our country, and of one another. That kind of love is essential to achieving justice.

These days, you can’t take any of that for granted. Love you, Mom.

Happy Mother’s Day, everyone — and to those whose mothers are no longer around, may the day land gently.
