LARA FURTHER CONSOLIDATES SUPPORT FROM LGBTQ COMMUNITY IN IC BID

Stonewall Democratic Club Gives Early Endorsement to Ricardo Lara’s Statewide Campaign

LONG BEACH, CA- Further expanding his far-reaching coalition of support in his bid for California Insurance Commissioner, today State Senator Ricardo Lara won a major endorsement from the Stonewall Democratic Club.

The Stonewall Democratic Club, founded in 1975, is an organization for progressive Democrats in Los Angeles who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight allies of the LGBTQ community, who are committed to achieving equality for all and to advancing progressive and feminist values through the Democratic Party. It is the oldest Stonewall Democratic Club in the country, and among the largest Democratic Clubs in California.

In a released statement following the endorsement, Stonewall Democratic Club President Lester Aponte reflected:

“The Stonewall Democratic Club is proud to make an early endorsement of Ricardo Lara’s campaign for Insurance Commissioner, not just because of his historic candidacy as potentially the first openly gay California statewide official, but also because of his longstanding track record in both pursuing progressive policies in the legislature and promoting LGBTQ candidates throughout the state.”
