California Nurses Association Endorses Kimberly Ellis for Democratic Party Chair
Team KE is proud to announce that the California Nurses Association has again backed Kimberly Ellis for California Democratic Party Chair, continuing their strong support from 2017.
“Kimberly Ellis will be an excellent, effective leader of the Democratic Party. At a time of unprecedented attacks from the Trump administration and its allies in Congress, we need a strong, unified CDP to advocate for all Californians, and provide a model for a more humane, progressive path for our state and nation,” said CNA President Malinda Markowitz, Co-President of the California Nurses Association.
The California Nurses Association represents more than 100,000 registered nurses in California and has been at the forefront of patient-centered healthcare policy, including CA’s landmark nurse-to-patient ratio law, nations first comprehensive workplace violence protection regulations, effective ebola screen and regulations and safe patient handling to prevent unnecessary neck and back injuries incurred by registered nurses’ when they turn and reposition patients.
“From nurse-to-patient ratios to Medicare-for-All, CNA has set the standard nationally for putting people over profits, and we could not be prouder to have their support again,” said Ellis. “If we’re going to make healthcare a human right and not a privilege, we can’t afford to take our foot off the peddle. Clearly, the battle around healthcare is far from over, both here in California as well as D.C. I’m ready to again stand shoulder to shoulder with CNA to help make Medicare-for-All a reality.”
