Co-Chair praises Costa as a leader in the fight to protect LGBTQ Americans from Donald Trump’s “hateful attacks”

Today, Jim Costa’s campaign for US Congress announced that Equality PAC, one of the nation’s premier organizations dedicated to bringing equality to LGBTQ Americans has thrown its support behind Costa’s re-election.

Congressman David Cicilline, Co-Chair of Equality PAC said: “Jim Costa has been a longtime champion for the LGBTQ community, working tirelessly to ensure LGBTQ Americans can live in a safer nation with respect and dignity. From being an early ally of the right for same-sex couples to marry, to his steadfast support of the Equality Act, Jim’s vision and experience are sorely needed in the fight to defend LGBTQ rights from Donald Trump’s hateful attacks.”

Equality PAC is dedicated to making full legal and societal equality of LGBTQ people a reality by creating a federal legislative environment conducive to that goal. Costa has been a longtime ally of the LGBTQ community, most recently through supporting HR-5, The Equality Act, which ensures LGBTQ Americans are guaranteed the full protections of federal civil rights laws.

Jim Costa represents California’s 16th Congressional District, which includes portions of Fresno, Madera and Merced Counties. He was re-elected to Congress in November 2018 by a decisive 15% margin over his opponent. During his service in Congress, Costa has delivered over $300 million for veterans’ services, expanded access to higher education, and improved access to healthcare.
