This weekend, the Trump administration announced a cruel decision that will restrict benefits, including health care, housing and food assistance, for hardworking immigrants who are pursuing citizenship.
I am doing everything I can to fight this decision and to stand up for California’s immigrant families.
This new policy won’t only hurt immigrants — it also punishes children who are citizens by cutting entire families off from benefits like food stamps and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. That’s shortsighted and unjust.
This isn’t the first time the Trump administration has attacked our immigrant families — and it won’t be the first time we’ve fought back either.
We stood up for Dreamers — and won — when President Trump threatened DACA. We sued when the Trump administration began separating families at the border. And now, we won’t let this decision stand unchallenged.
