Rise Up, in partnership with the Cummins
-accelerate-advancement-women-and-girls-around, is launching a new
initiative called the Gender Equity Initiative
(GEI) in California.
We are reaching out to organizations in California to identify strong local
civil society and non-profit organization leaders working on gender equity,
human rights, advocacy, education and related issues in 14 counties in
California to apply to be part of the first cohort of leaders in GEI.
We will be recruiting in the following counties:
l   Alameda                                       l  San Benito
l   Contra Costa                                l  San Francisco
l   Fresno                                           l   San Joaquín
l   Madera                                          l   San Mateo
l   Merced                                          l   Santa Clara
l   Monterey                                      l   Santa Cruz
l   Sacramento                                  l   Stanislaus
Participants will attend a week-long Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator
workshop in April 2019 to strengthen their leadership and develop advocacy
strategies to improve the lives of girls and women in their communities.
After the Accelerator, participants join Rise Up’s network of global leaders
working together to improve the lives of girls, women and youth everywhere
and can apply for competitive seed funding to launch their advocacy
Given the amazing work that you and many of the people at Community Alliance
do across San Joaquin Valley, I thought that you or someone you work with
might be interested in applying for this initiative.
Elsa and I spoke about potentially having a zoom call between my colleague,
Elva Castellanos, Rise Up’s Program Administrator (who is cced on this
email) and some of your team at Community Alliance to share a bit more about
this initiative, maybe on Monday, November 11? Please let us know if this
would work for you. We would love to learn more about Community Alliance and
share some more details about the Gender Equity Initiative with you.
I have also attached an one-pager about GEI in California, along with our
selection criteria. Feel free to share it with your colleagues, networks and
friends who you think may be a good fit for this opportunity.  When you
share it, please cc Elva Castellanos, Rise Up Program Administrator, at with copy to me at so
that we can follow up with more detailed application information.
Alternatively, you can also send us the names, organizations and emails of
potential applicants and we can follow up with them directly.
We truly appreciate your support for this exciting new initiative as we work
together to advance the education, equity, opportunity, and social justice
for girls and women in California.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and hope we can have a quick call
to share more about this work.
Best regards,
Chantal Hildebrand, MPH, MCP
