On Trump’s one-year anniversary as president, we’re on day one of a government shutdown.
Make no mistake, Jeff. This shutdown happened because this president and his party are too incompetent and ill-intentioned to do their jobs and keep the federal government up and running. It happened because they are incapable of governing, and it’s time for it to end.
Here’s the good news: We can take back the House AND the Senate from them this November.
Whether we win or lose this year depends on the work we put in right now. And there’s no better way to commemorate Trump’s first year in office than by showing him we’re ready to elect Democrats who will stand up to his awful agenda.
By organizing in every community nationwide, 2018 can be the year we elect candidates who will defend health care for all and level the playing field for working families. It can be the year we elect a Congress that will hold this administration accountable, and it can be the year we start getting this country back on track.
Let this day be a turning point. Let it be the day that we roll up our sleeves and commit to working together to make sure that we elect Democrats who will fight for every American.
Thanks for all you do,
Democratic National Committee
